Let’s face it owning stuff is so last generation: books, films, music, phones. We rent everything now, from energy to water – even the internet. We can’t even watch football without paying a monthly subscription. And it turns out that not owning a car is the new car ownership. Eh?
Hold on; I think we need a slow motion replay for that (to be honest, we’re struggling getting football references into this piece).
But yes, that’s right, ‘Pay as you Go’ motoring is on the horizon. Soon enough, we won’t own cars, but subscribe to a specific brand and pay a flat monthly fee that covers the cost of rental, insurance, maintenance and breakdown cover. You can then swap, upgrade or downgrade your subscription on a month-by-month basis. You heard it here first, mobility is the new utility.
