Class R3B
Class R3B identifies high-performance reflective films by technical approval. ORALITE 6910 is the reflective film we distribute that meets Class R3B specifications. Class R3B films are made to reflect at least 58% of projected light back in all weather conditions.
Retroreflectivity
Class R3B materials typically offer high retroreflectivity, returning nearly twice the light to the source than RA2. This reflectivity ensures signs remain visible at night or during adverse weather when illuminated by headlights. High-performance materials on road signs give drivers more time to respond when travelling at speed.
Construction
Materials classed at R3B are composed of microprismatic or encapsulated lenses. This complex construction places prisms into transparent or metalised layers as reflectors. Surrounding the retroreflective section are protective, coloured & adhesive layers.
Class R3B Specification
R3B specifications require materials to reach minimum retroreflectivity levels of 58-60% or 300 cd/lx/m2. To measure performance, a cone of visibility is checked using different light sources & observation angles. Class R3B has the second-highest minimum levels of all the reflective classes.
