Proof of Identity

When using the RNPS Log to keep DVLA compliant records, enter data on who the customers is on the Proof of Identity tab. So your records are correct, ensure you fill out any yellow fields with the relevant data.

The third tab is where you select the type of document or item a customer used to prove who they are. And enter a serial number off it as proof. You can save the record at any time, using the records menu.

Select the type of document used to prove identity
On the left are the types of items acceptable as proof. Usually your customer will present one of these, as proof they are who they claim.

Acceptable Documents:

  • Driving licence
  • Utility bill or council tax statement
  • Bank or building society statement
  • Current passport
  • Credit or debit card
  • Police warrant card or an armed forces identity card
  • Foreign National Identity Card

So to continue building the record, select the type used from the list. Next, click the left arrow to move it to the yellow box. In the image above, we have selected the Driving Licence.

As long as documents are place into the box, they are included in the record. In case of a mistake, simply select an item and press the right arrow to remove it.

Next you need to enter a serial or reference number off the document chosen as proof. In essence showing your due diligence as a supplier. So take the number from the document and enter it into the yellow box.

The number taken will depend on the document used. Below is a sample Driving Licence with the reference number highlighted.
