C532 Media Jams

C532 Media Jams

This article shows you how to clear your C532 Media Jams with simple to follow instructions. When it detects a jam, your printers display screen will display a error message indicating what type of jam you have and where. While your printer will refer to a paper jam, it’s a generic term that covers our plate media too.

Before you start trouble shooting jams, give your printer time to cool down and take care handling its parts. Instructions that follow assume you are directly facing the front of the machine.

Clear Output Jams

Most output jams can be quickly cleared

Most jams result in your plate media not clearing the output trays properly. If you’re lucky, all you need to do is pull it towards you and out of the tray like the image above. Although on occasion you may have to open up the printers cover, before a jam will pull clear.

Clear Fuser Jams

Fuser jams result in your plate media not clearing the unit properly. If you’re lucky, all you need to do is push down the release switch and pull it towards you. Although on occasion you may have to take the fuser out the printer, to clear a jam.

Remove the C532 Fuser Unit

You may have to remove the fuser before clearing a jam

Push down the release switch and pull the media free

To remove the fuser, you may have to remove all its toner and drum units. Place them on a clean surface and cover them if they’re going to be out of the machine for any length of time.
Now take the fuser unit out your printer. Begin by unlocking it using the blue levers located on both sides. Now use the handle on top and lift it up out its housing. Take care not to touch the rollers and place it on a clean surface.

To remove the stuck media, release the rollers by pushing down on the release switch on the top of unit – indicated by the arrow on the image above. While you push down, pull the media towards you and out of the unit. Do not pull it out the in the reverse direction. Once your jam is cleared replace your fuser and toners straight away, then close your printer up.

In severe cases, plate components can become fused to the rollers. As a result the fuser unit itself may need replacing and your settings checked.

Clear Transfer Belt Jams

The transfer belt is located at the bottom of your printer

To release the belt, unlock the two blue levers on the sides

Before you can clear a belt unit jam, you will have to remove all the toners and drums. Only take out the belt unit if you have a media jam that will not pull through by hand. To remove the belt, first unlock it by pulling the blue rings located on both sides towards you. Now you can lift it up and out the printer, use the rings to handle it.

Avoid touching the transfer belt surface, and gently pull clear any media. Once again any fused media may damage your printers transfer belt and require replacing. Once your jam is cleared replace your belt and toners straight away, then close your printer up.

Note: Fused media usually occurs when non approved components are used. Your printer has setting for our plate media only, using other brands may damage your printer.
